Industry: Converting
Application: Coating
Static Problem
In coating applications, you want to make sure
the material to be coated is as clean as possible
and free of all particulates before the coating
process begins. You also need to neutralize any
static charges on the material's surface which
reattract dust and other particulates that could ruin
the quality of the end product. Static control
difficulties can arise, however, because dip or
spray coating machines often generate high static
charges at the rewind stage caused by high
speeds, the type of coating that's used, the type of
material being coated, or the dryer.
In addition, many coating operations involve
volatile solvents, and require discharge of high
static potentials since sudden discharges of
electricity can cause fires and explosions.
NRD Solution
This is a perfect application for NRD Alpha
linear ionizers, such as P-2001 and/or air curtains
with P-2001 bars, which are all intrinsically safe
for use in volatile, solvent-laden environments.
Special Note:
It's very important to determine if an operation is
hazardous.
